Masala Oatmeal is a savory oatmeal porridge made with porridge oats cooked with lots of vegetables and simple seasoning. It’s a healthy, delicious, vegan, and gluten-free breakfast recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup oats quick cooking oats
- 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander leaves
- Lemon wedges
- 2-3cups water
- Salt, as per taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Once hot, add cumin seeds let it splutter.
- Add onion and saute until turns brown.
- Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder along with required salt. Saute for 2 mins.
- Add water and mix well.
- Let it come to a boil.
- Now add oats and mix well.
- Cook for a minute and give it a boil.
- Cook until turns thick more like porridge consistency.
- At this point, switch off the flame as it may turn thick after cooling down.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
- Serve masala oats hot.
