Indian Masala Oats/ Savoury Oatmeal Recipe | Breakfast Care

Masala Oatmeal is a savory oatmeal porridge made with porridge oats cooked with lots of vegetables and simple seasoning. It’s a healthy, delicious, vegan, and gluten-free breakfast recipe.

  • 1/2 cup oats quick cooking oats
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves
  • Lemon wedges
  • 2-3cups water
  • Salt, as per taste

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Once hot, add cumin seeds let it splutter.
  • Add onion and saute until turns brown.
  • Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder along with required salt. Saute for 2 mins.
  • Add water and mix well.
  • Let it come to a boil.
  • Now add oats and mix well.
  • Cook for a minute and give it a boil.
  • Cook until turns thick more like porridge consistency.
  • At this point, switch off the flame as it may turn thick after cooling down.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
  • Serve masala oats hot.
  • Enjoy!
