Soya Chunks Curry Recipe | Breakfast Care

Soya Chunks Curry is a delicious side dish. It is best served with chapati, roti, nan, and pulao. 

  • 1.5 cups soya chunks
  • 2 potatoes, cut into cubes
  • 1 large onion roughly chopped
  • 2 green chilli, chopped
  • cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger piece, chopped
  • 1 large tomato roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3 cups water 
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • A handful of coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt, as per taste

  • Wash the soya chunks and soak in boiling water for around 10-15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, squeeze out all the water from the chunks and keep aside.
  • In a grinder, make a paste of onion, ginger, and garlic. Take out the paste. Keep aside.
  • In the same jar make a paste of tomato and green chilies.
  • Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  • Add the onion paste and fry till it turns golden brown.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt, and coriander powder and about 2 tablespoons of water.
  • Stir fry for about a minute and then add the tomatoes.
  • Cook the tomatoes nicely until turn mushy.
  • Add potato cubes and soya chunks. Mix everything well and cook for about 2 minutes.
  • Add water, mix and cover the pot. 
  • Cook till potatoes are cooked well.
  • Add garam masala, mix and simmer for around 2 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with chapati, rice or paratha.
  • Enjoy!
