Sabudana Khichdi Recipe | Breakfast Care

Sabudana Khichdi is one of the traditional breakfast dish from Western India, specially from Maharashtra, Gujrat and Rajasthan. It is popular in India as a fasting food and is consumed during navratri festival.

  • 1 cup sabudana
  • 1/2 cup potato, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • A handful of coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon pomegranate seeds (optional)
  • Salt, as per taste

  1. Wash the sabudana 3-4 times. Soak it in 3/4 cup water for sometime.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan. Once hot, add cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds starts crackling, add potato and green chillies. Cover and cook on low heat till potatoes are done.
  4. Add peanuts, soaked sabudana, coriander and salt. Cover and cook on low heat until sabudana turns translucent.
  5. Add lemon juice and mix well, once cooked. Garnish with chopped coriander.
  6. Sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and serve.
  7. Enjoy!

You can use oil if ghee is not available.
