Jackfruit Carnitas Tacos Recipe | Breakfast Care

Jackfruit Carnitas Tacos are full of flavor, they are so easy to prepare and make the perfect meal, loved by family. It's so delicious and satisfying tacos ever.

  • 4 tortillas
  • 20 ounce can of Jackfruit, drained
  • 1 cup red onion, diced
  • 5 tomatoes, halves
  • 4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 jalapeno, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 /2 teaspoon sugar 
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Cashew cream
  • A handful of chopped cilantro, to garnish
  • Lime wedges, to garnish

  1. Wash and drain the jackfruit and cut into thin slices. Squeeze out as much water as you can.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil.
  3. Add onion, garlic and jalapeno over medium heat and saute for about 5 minutes or until deeply golden and aromatic.
  4. Add the jackfruit, and soy sauce and stir well and lower heat. Stir occasionally.
  5. Add the salt, sugar and spices. Mix well.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon oil –stir-frying the spices and jackfruit a bit until jackfruit begins to caramelize crisp and deepen in color.
  7. Place jackfruit carnitas in the centre of tortillas.
  8. Top with cashew cream.
  9. Garnish with cilantro, tomatoes, onion, lime wedges, and serve.
  10. Enjoy!
