Paneer Bhurji Recipe | Breakfast Care

Paneer bhurji is a popular North Indian dish made of Indian cottage cheese/paneer. This is a delightfully spicy paneer dish that can be served as an accompaniment or side dish in Indian 

  • 2 cups paneer, crumbled
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon hing
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paneer masala
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt, as per taste

  1. Crumble the paneer and set it aside.
  2. Crush the green chili, ginger and garlic using mortar and pestle.
  3. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat and crackle the cumin seeds. Add the hing and stir.
  4. Add the chopped onion, along with crushed green chilies, ginger and garlic and stir. Cook for 5 minutes until light browned.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 3 minutes until softened.
  6. Add coriander powder, paneer masala, turmeric and red chili powder and salt. Mix and cook the spices for 30 seconds.
  7. Add the crumbled paneer and mix everything together. Cook the paneer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Transfer to the serving dish and squeeze lemon juice over paneer bhurji.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
  10. Enjoy!

You can serve paneer bhurji with roti, plain paratha or as a stuffing in burrito or wraps.
