Methi Paratha/ Fenugreek Paratha Recipe | Breakfast Care

Methi Paratha is one of the best Indian breakfast recipe. It is a traditional Indian flat bread prepared from fenugreek leaves, whole wheat flour and gram flour.

  • 1 cup methi leaves (fenugreek leaves), chopped
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 3 teaspoon oil/ ghee
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt, as per taste

  1. Wash and chop methi leaves.
  2. In a large bowl, add wheat flour, chopped methi, salt, chopped green chili and garam masala. Add 2 teaspoons of oil and mix everything well together.
  3. Add water, little at a time to knead it all into a soft dough.
  4. Divide the dough into small dough balls.
  5. Roll one dough ball into a round circle.
  6. Heat a tawa on medium-high heat. 
  7. Once hot, place the rolled paratha onto the tawa.
  8. Let it cook from one side for few seconds.
  9. Flip over and now apply oil/ghee generously on the cooked side.
  10. Flip again and apply oil/ghee on the other side of the paratha as well.
  11. Press the paratha with a spatula or till it's has brown spots and is well cooked from both sides.
  12. Repeat the same steps with the other dough balls.
  13. Serve hot methi parathas with butter, curd, green chutney and pickle of your choice.
  14. Enjoy!

1. You can use ghee/ butter to roast tha paratha.
2. Methi Parathas tastes best with hot tea.
