Coconut Rice/ South Indian Coconut Rice Recipe | Breakfast Care

Coconut Rice recipe is also known as Thengai Sadam. It is one of our favourite South Indian food, easily made at home using fresh coconut. 

  • 3-4 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup water
  • 8-10 raw cashews
  • 1-2 green chili, chopped
  • 3/4 cup coconut, grated
  • Salt, as per taste
  • 1.5 tablespoon oil/ghee

  1. Heat oil in a pot on medium heat. 
  2. Place all the ingredients in pot, except cashews and grated coconut and cover the lid. Let it boil.
  3. Stir occasionally and keep cooking until rice has absorbed water.
  4. Garnish with sauteed cashews and grated coconut.
  5. Serve the coconut rice with any curry, yogurt or pickle.
  6. Enjoy!
