Aloo Paratha Recipe | Breakfast Care

Aloo Paratha is a bread dish originating from the Indian subcontinent. The recipe is one of the most popular breakfast dishes throughout western, central and northern regions of India as well as in Pakistan.

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 2 potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ghee/oil/ butter
  • Salt, as per taste

1. Boil the potatoes and mash them in a large bowl.
2. Add chopped onions, coriander leaves, salt, and red chilli powder in the bowl. Mix well so that no lumps remain.
3. Put wheat flour in a large mixing bowl. Add water gradually and knead into a soft dough.
4. Make small-medium balls of the dough and roll them out into 3 to 4-inch circles.
5. Add a spoonful of potato filling in the centre. Gradually press the rolling pin on all sides while making the parathas (Be careful to apply pressure evenly).
6. Seal the dough and round it with your fingers. Now roll them with a rolling pin into round parathas. Press very lightly so that the mixture does not come out.
7. Heat the pan and roast the parathas, cooking them on both the sides with a spoonful of ghee/oil/butter.
8. Transfer to the serving dish and serve hot paratha with butter, chilled yoghurt or pickle of choice
9. Enjoy!

Aloo Paratha tastes best with a cup of tea.
